CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP REPORT - A NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS
The finals night saw some thrilling matches across squash and racketball disciplines, showcasing grit, determination, and exceptional sportsmanship.
Ladies Squash Plate Final
Sue Preston delivered a commanding performance in the Plate final, taking a straight-sets victory over Brydie Anderson with a 3-0 scoreline. Preston’s control and consistency saw her dominate proceedings from the outset, not allowing her opponent any room to find rhythm.
Ladies Squash Main Event Final
Emma Clarke proved unstoppable in the Main Event final as she stormed to a convincing 3-0 win against Helen Craggs. Clarke’s pace and precision were simply too much on the day, sealing the title in style.
Racketball Plate Final
The Racketball Plate Final turned into an epic battle between Terry Ellis and Marcus Lyon. In a match that swung back and forth, both players dug deep, testing each other’s stamina and resolve over five grueling games. Ellis ultimately edged ahead in the deciding game to clinch a 3-2 victory, earning applause for a gutsy and well-earned win. Lyon showed real heart throughout, pushing the match to its limits.
Racketball Main Event Final
The Main Event was no less dramatic, with James Hanson and Henry Palmer producing another five-game classic. Palmer took the first game, only for Hanson to fight back fiercely and level the match. Both players traded blows in an intense back-and-forth contest that had spectators on the edge of their seats. In the final game, Hanson managed to pull away with just enough in the tank to secure a 3-2 win in what was a true test of skill and endurance.
Squash Main Event Final
In the final match of the night, Andy Philips faced Dan Boyle in the Squash Main Event Final. Philips started strong, taking an early lead. Boyle responded in the second game, but Philips dug in and showed his class to take the next two games and close out the match 3-1. It was a high-quality contest between two experienced players, with Philips ultimately proving too strong.
