The club enjoys the services of 3 coaches:

Steve Everitt - England Squash accredited level 3 qualified coach and Talent Development Award

Derek Norris - England Squash accredited level 3 qualified coach and Talent Development Award

Nick Dukes - England Squash accredited Level 2 coach and club award.

Junior Coaching

Junior coaching is run on:

Tuesday evenings 6pm-7pm (beginners and improvers) and 7pm-8pm (advanced)

Thursdays 5pm-6pm (beginners and improvers) and 6pm-7pm (advanced)

Each session offers 3 ability groups for ages 5 to 16.

Beginners and improvers: Introducing the fundamentals to our youngest students aged 6 and up. Older children who are new to squash are also very welcome within this session.

Advanced: Coaching the individual within a group setting thro0ugh drills and technical development using the 5 squash pillers and non-negotiables.

More about our coaches

Derek Norris is an England squash registered level 3 squash and racketball coach. He works with all ages and abilities and particularly known for his success at grass roots level junior development. In the past has lead roles of Junior Development manager and ICC junior manager. Organising teams for the Inter Counties, the Northern Cup and the Riding's cup. 

In his time at Malton Rackets club , he has had several juniors represent Yorkshire . In his role at the club he brings along his enthusiasm his experience in coaching for many years , helping juniors reach their goals whilst having lots of fun.

Steve Everitt 

Having been a member of the Malton club for just over 35 years Steve represented the Mens Squash 1st team in both the Yorkshire League and York League Division 1 he was also privileged to represent Yorkshire in age group squash on numerous occasions. Steve has over 20 years of coaching experience working with both juniors and adults, ranging in ability from beginners to County/Regional Academy to Yorkshire League standard players. He offers both one to one or group coaching, where sessions can be tailored to the individual needs of players. Steve is also a qualified Racketball coach.

Nick Dukes

Started playing squash in 2010 to keep fit for racing his sidecar in the British championship and Isle of Man TT races. From retirement of racing he found the love of squash. In 2018 he got heavily involved with the junior coaching at Malton. In 2022 he upgraded his coaching qualification to the England Squash level 2 club coach award; a 2 month assessment course with 3 full contact days at Yarm delivering sessions to England Squash's head of coaching.
